“I can’t believe you took on that tank, a normal person wouldn’t do that.”
A few years after the war, the devastation of war is still very obvious and section three of the army, A.K.A. Pumpkin Scissors, was formed to do war relief. They where called the easy going section, but once Corporal Randel Oland joined, it all changed. They where constantly being shot at by guns and tanks. If it wasn’t for Randel Oland they would have all been dead shortly after the series started. Corporal Randel Oland was part of 901-ATT (Anti Tank Troopers) squad, he could take on a tank with only his hand gun but only at point blank range. The 901-ATT where super soldiers that where guided by a lantern that glowed blue and was a trigger to send them into a killing mode. These soldiers were part of elite squad known as the Invisible Nine. With the help of Corporal Randel Oland, section three has a better chance of helping people and taking down anyone in there way.
Highlights
As I mentioned early, Corporal Randel Oland was in the 901-ATT which is part of the Invisible Nine. The men in the 901-ATT had to be fearless to get to point blank range to use there guns on the tanks, so the lantern that I talked about earlier did just by triggering his conditioned response to kill. The Invisible Nine are groups that, according to the government, the never existed. each group has a specialty, like the 901-ATTs can take down tanks, the 903-CTT (Chemical Tactics Troopers) used chemical warfare and The 908-HTT (Hight Temperature Troopers) use flame throwers and couldn’t feel the heat from the fire. It is implied there where 9 divisions of the Invisible Nine. The name Invisible Nine may just mean that they are part of a special squad. The number nine had historical importance and was never to be used and was considered not to exist. The last number of each division and the first initial match up (1=A, 3=C and 8=H). That also means there could be more that nine, for instance there could be the 923-WTT(Water Tactics Troopers) 23=W.

Overall
Pumpkin Scissors was a very interesting series, from the character to the time period. It’s set in approximately the mid industrial revolution period, maybe the time between WWI and WWII. Even though it gets very serous at times, it always takes breaks for some humor. One episode was especially funny because his Sergeant Major was trying to cheer up Randel Oland and she going to do a dance for him, but when she was practicing with her dog Oland walked in and thought she was worshiping the dog. The more serious topic they took on was the struggle of the class system. The end of the series took place at a party for the Aristocrats, the workers and farmers broke in and were going to kill them but the Lieutenant of the Pumpkin Scissors was there because of her family ties and she stepped in to stop the uprising. The remainder of the arch dealt with her standing against both the Aristocrats and the lower class. She proved to everyone that there was a better way to solve the issue and also enlightened her brethren of their shameful existence. It was very much like what was going on in eastern Europe and Russia at the time, but it ended without a communistic take over. The series did end abruptly but did leave it open for more. I would love to see this series taken to a complete conclusion.
ComicsOnline gives, Pumpkin Scissors, the Complete Series, 4.5 out of 5 Corporal Randel Oland’s scars.
