Entertainment Weekly/SyFy Party Photos
I was invited to take part in the exclusive red carpet at Hotel Solamar for Entertainment Weekly's joint party with SyFy. It was quite the event with tons of celebrities wandering by flashing cameras and warmly chatting with myself and a few other online reporters who waved for their attention. I am working on getting the audio together because it was quite loud out there, but I do have some pictures of the celebs that I got to chat with so I thought I'd put them up for you lucky readers!
First up some Battlestar Galactica people! Edward James Olmos stopped by to talk.
Grace Park looked beautiful and was more than happy to chat next to her former co-star….
Blu-ray Review: Green Lantern- First Flight
"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power… Green Lantern's light!"
The Green Lantern Corps, a galaxy wide police squad dedicated to keeping the galaxy safe unbeknownst to us puny mortal earthlings. Enter Hal Jordan, test fighter pilot on earth who becomes chosen when a fallen member of the GLC crashes to earth and needs to find someone to inherit his ring that gives him power to fight evil. The origin story for Green Lantern has been told and redone many many times over throughout the years in the various different mediums and this new movie, Green Lantern: First Flight, is no different.
Blu-ray Review: Coraline
Imagine for a moment that you have discovered a door to another reality. This world would be extremely close to the every day living that you experience right now, except for one small difference. Every aspect of the world around you has improved considerably. Would you choose to stay in this pleasant replication of your known reality, or will you go home and tough it out despite the imperfections? This is the decision that Coraline Jones has to make in Coraline, now available on DVD and Blu-Ray.
True Blood at SDCC
The arrival of the "True Blood" cast to Ballroom 20 was met with loud applause and many fangirl screams, especially thanks to the fan favorite actor Alexander Skasgard being there. Also in attendance was Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Rutina Wesley, Michelle Forbes, Nelsan Ellis, Sam Trammell, Deborah Ann Woll, Alan Ball, and the writer of the original series Charlaine Harris. It was great to see such a full panel, but it also meant that not every actor could be as fully addressed as we'd like. There was so much to ask and very little time to do it in!
DVD Review: Slayers the First Three Seasons
Slayers is based on a Light Novel and manga of the same name that premiered way back in 1995. The hand drawn animation is beautifully done and the English voice cast did a great job. An interesting bit of trivia is that almost the entire main cast went on to be in Pokemon when that show was brought over here in '98. Some are more noticeable than others and most of the time I couldn't help but add "Ash" when Gourry Gabriev (the second star of the show) talks. Gourry is voiced by Eric Stuart, who went on to play Brock and James. DVD Review: Darker Than Black Volume 6
The Darker Than Black saga comes to an end in Volume 6, but the story of the Contractors and the Syndicate is left open for more to come. The high drama is clear evidence that the Japanese take their Anime seriously. The imagery and plot stand out and reflect a very eastern mindset and general life philosophy. DVD Review: Fullmetal Alchemist: Premium OVA Collection
It's finally happened! Fullmetal Alchemist has reappeared with it's Premium OVA Collection! This Premium collection contains four ACTION PACKED adventures: Interactive Experience, Live Action Featurette, Chibi Wrap Party, and the short "Kids"! Manga Review: One Piece Volume 1, Romance Dawn“I’m gonna be the KING of the PIRATES!!!”
Gold Rogers had it all, he had fame, power and money. Before he was executed, these where his final words. “My treasure? Why, it’s right where I left it…It’s yours if you can find it…but you’ll have to search the WHOLE WORLD!”. Now pirates from across the world are searching for the treasure that can make their dreams come true.
SDCC The Lost Panel
Matt and Kroze had a very particular reason to be happy, as we found out later on in the panel.
Then we all took turns making ugly Jackfaces. Interview and Movie Review for The CollectorFriday night was an event filled evening with a special screening of The Collector and preceded by an interview with Writer Patrick Melton, writer/director Marcus Dunstan, both involved with Feast and Saw IV, V VI, and the films star Josh Stewart. I have to admit, as I did to them, that my agenda was to meet the men who put Henry Rollins in pink sweats (Feast). Patrick and Marcus admitted that this was actually a concession to the rating, as the script originally called for his pants to be torn off by the creatures and to be nude. Twice. They talked about his intensity and work ethic, how he showed up on time and prepared. CC09 – Chuck Interviews Part 1 of 3 – Morgan Interviews Adam Baldwin14 year old Morgan interviews the very tall Adam Baldwin, aka Colonel Casey from Chuck. Book Review: The Lord of the Sands of TimeWe go from the future and the past, one time stream to another, but the real issue is the continuation of humanity. Issui Ogawa has done a lovely job of addressing the ultimate destruction of humanity and the knowledge that the only way to stop it is by going back in time to change time. There is also the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to do the job for you.
SDCC Pictures from the BalconyWe got onto the interview balcony and saw a few stars come in and out for pictures. First up are a series of pictures from the Tron Legacy stars, including Olivia Wilde, Jeff Bridges, and Garrett Hedlund.
