IDW continues to take our beloved Star Trek characters from The Original Series to The Next Generation to Deep Space Nine to Voyager and beyond and assemble characters we never would have thought of putting together, and telling stories we didn’t realize we’ve been aching for, for decades.
Last week in Star Trek: Defiant #26, Lore sent Worf and Alexander to go after Sisko and Kahless. This week we have part 3 of the multiverse spanning epic by Kelly and Lanzing (in collaboration with Cantwell, obviously) where Sisko learns that his familiar wormhole doesn’t even exist in Lore’s universe. Where will they go now?

Official Description:
“Lore War,” Part 3. Friends and foes clash when Worf and his mind-twisted crew on the USS Enterprise come into contact with Sisko, Kahless II, and Beverly aboard the USS Phoenix in Alpha Quadrant space. Nothing in Lore’s universe is clear-but when Sisko sees his old friend on the viewscreen, he knows what he must do: wake Worf the hell up!
As per usual, this iteration of IDW’s ‘Trek team is ideally assembled. Editor Heather Antos once again herds the Hivemind (Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing) to once again make Star Trek fans cry. Of course I’m talking about that final panel. Back when I was like 13 I met him in an elevator and he was super nice. How dare you, Collin and Jack?! That was horrifying and cruel, and of course we also have excellent artist Davide Tinto and colorist Lee Loughridge to bring the gristly horror to life. I know I’ve said before that when you’re publishing comics about established characters, it better be believable. This week, IDW has gone too far and warped the Star Trek universe into an all-too-believable horror show with more stories about our favorite characters and the terrible things that happen to them.
Including also Dani Moonstar (aka Mirage of the New Mutants). I know Descheeni isn’t supposed to be a rip-off of Dani, but I’m calling Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod to see what they have to say. Maybe Art Adams too. She really looks like Dani to me.
The important thing is: Ben Sisko better save the Star Trek Universe from this Lore monstrosity, because OMFG. This is getting out of hand, Heather! And Collin and Jackson and Christopher and these excellent artists! Is that a typo on page 4? Clayton Cowles is doing a great job lettering this book, so clearly I’m just hallucinating.
This universally dark story arc will shock and horrify Star Trek fans of every generation and will keep us coming back for more Lore War!
