Bad Algorithm!

What’s in a name?

In 2022, I considered “Bad Algorithm” as a false name for the comic strip on comics run on April Fool’s Day. However, the first of April does not always fall on my Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule. The concept was that Trollbot takes over the feed, and tries to convince readers that the comic strip is produced by a faulty algorithm. With the advances in Artificial Intelligence, such a concept is abhorrent to most artists, so I abandoned it in the bad idea category. It is only a witty name for a comic strip if it is understood to be ironic, maybe?

Comic Inspiration?

My Alexa gives me notifications on authors I follow. Apparently, there are entire FAQ pages dedicated to making Alexa less irritating.

Critter Colorings!

Thank you Reyna (age 12) for this unique Critter Coloring!

The design for this Critter Coloring comes from the incredible Zefran, who is the master artist/creator behind “Jorfre & Olegario” comic strip in Brazil. He’s a longtime supporter of my comic strip, and contributed the above fan art in his style.

Caroline modeling Zefran’s Art

Zefran sent me this t-shirt after I encouraged him to start making tshirts of his awesome art! The model is Caroline, who is also the inspiration for Latuda and many, many of the jokes found in these strips.

Zefran and a Critter Sighting from Brazil!

So I had to send a t-shirt back! The location is better in his picture, but the model is cuter in mine!

To support more aspiring artists and their colorings, go to Redbubble and look for the JoeIconic store. All proceeds go to buying more stickers, temporary tattoos, and make coloring pages for the children who come through our local crisis charity! Critter fans send Critter Sightings from Amsterdam to Charleston to Brazil!  Critter Sightings are usually posted on social media on the weekends.

This “Director’s Cut” of the cartoons is exclusively on ComicsOnline.com! Come back to ComicsOnline for Critters, Comic Book Reviews, and Everything Geek Pop Culture!

Joe is a husband, #girldad, and Orphan of Apollo. He has drawn critters since riding the bus in 5th grade, and they have appeared on notes to loved ones, graffiti in a Latin classroom (sorry Rev. Dr Clark!), training slides for work, a newsletter in Alaska, and notes to his wife Tracy, who encouraged him to share them with the world. Contains pop culture references, stuff from the news, but mostly bad dad jokes.
