Ugga Dugga and the Leaves
I wanted to do something different, and to tell a joke with as few words as possible became a goal. There is something calming, relaxing to me to make a simple visual gag. I hope this feeling is contagious!
Notice this comic strip has no title, no snarky comment. I wanted it to stand on its own. Like an Ugga Dugga under a leaf pile.
The problem with having so many characters is, of course, that it goes against the grain of introducing new comics in today’s mass consumption, short attention span entertainment economy. Going against the grain is fine with me. If you are a fan, you are tribe. It takes a little extra effort, which I respect! My problem with having so many characters is that some of my favorites get excluded from a storyline. Also, they are all my favorites! Hopefully, you could use a little Ugga Dugga in your life, too.
The OG
This is the original! After updating so many of the older cartoons, I needed a week of original content. The inspiration, however, was a Peanuts cartoon from November 2, 1954. Snoopy chases leaves, and the leaves chase him. Simple, beautiful, pure cartoons from another time. Thank you again, Charles Shulz!
Critter Coloring!
“They Need Arms” by Gladis, age 4
This critter coloring is why having young people around are such a joy! Gladis is four years old, This young artist looked at my critters, and decided they needed arms. I love the “Olaf” style, which goes with both the Spooky Season theme, and the Disney joke from yesterday. For critter stickers like Gladis took home, go to Redbubble and look for the JoeIconic store. All proceeds go to buying more stickers, temporary tattoos, and other sharable promotional swag, and make coloring pages for the children who come through our local crisis charity! Critter fans send Critter Sightings from Amsterdam to Charleston to Oklahoma to Lexington, South Carolina! Critter Sightings are usually posted on social media on the weekends.
This “Director’s Cut” of the cartoons is exclusively on ComicsOnline.com! Come back to ComicsOnline for Critters, Comic Book Reviews, and Everything Geek Pop Culture!
