Comic Review: Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War #1

Green-Lantern-Star-Trek-Comic-Cpectrum-War

By Emil Favila, Reporter

For the first time ever, two of the greatest intergalactic franchises come together in the greatest crossover in the universe!  Issue #1 is mostly a set up story, where a desperate Ganthet is making his escape from an evil force.  He manages to transfer himself to another dimension but at the cost of his own life.  Written by Mike Johnson (Supergirl) with art by Angel Hernandez (Infinite Crisis), Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War is sure to be a hit.

Looking at the front cover, you can tell this Star Trek is based off the franchise directed by J.J. Abrams (Lost, Alias). All the respective actors and actresses are drawn accurately by Hernandez.   Most of issue is spent with the crew while they analyze Ganthet’s remains.   The various rings rise up during the last few pages, leaving the reader to wonder who will the ring choose among the Enterprise. Hal Jordan makes an appearance, with what looks to be a misunderstanding between him and the crew.

Star Trek/Green Lantern is set up for 6 issues, and I can’t wait to check out the rest of the series!  I was a fan of Mike Johnson’s work on Supergirl so I’m sure the series will really pick in the following issues.  If you enjoyed the latest Star Trek movies and are an overall fan of the Emerald Knight, then I highly recommend picking up Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War #1 at your local comic book store or Amazon Kindle today!
