cosmosSometimes, there is a magic that happens when at conventions.  You walk into a room where something amazing is about to take place, and somehow, you get to be a part of it, fulfilling years of fantasy.  For me, this happened on Saturday at SDCC 2013 when I got to have some one-on-one time with Neil deGrasse Tyson.  He is currently the Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center For Earth and Space and a research associate in the department of astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History, and in 2011, it was announced that he would take the hosting reigns of the newly revamped Carl Sagan series Cosmos for Fox.  I grew up being addicted to PBS, and cannot count how many times I’d watched NOVA, ScienceNow, Scientific American Frontier, and the multitude of other series/specials Tyson made appearances on.

As soon as Tyson walked in to the small pressroom, you felt this surge of energy from the other reporters.  Suddenly everyone was smiling.  Neil went out of his way to come up to me before my interview time with him to say I was “incandescent”, and “glowing like a fallen star”.

Here is my segment with him, which got cut short because the Fox guys TOOK SO LONG with their on camera, but considering Cosmos is on their network, I am not complaining.  We’ll also have a segment with Executive producers Brannon Braga and Ann Druyan.
