Gold Rogers had it all, he had fame, power and money. Before he was executed, these where his final words. “My treasure? Why, it’s right where I left it…It’s yours if you can find it…but you’ll have to search the WHOLE WORLD!”. Now pirates from across the world are searching for the treasure that can make their dreams come true.
Highlights
Pirate Captain Red-Haired Shanks and his crew returned to the village that they where using as base, only to fine a village boy, by the name of Monkey D. Luffy waiting for them to return. Luffy wanted to join Red-Haired Shanks crew. To prove he was tough enough, he stabbed him self in the face. It wasn’t that Luffy wasn’t tough enough, it is that he was just a kid and that he was called Anchor because he couldn’t swim. Later that knight, while Luffy was hanging out with the pirates, he accidentally ate the Gum-Gum fruit, one of the devil fruit. The Gum-Gum fruit turned Luffy into a rubber boy but took away his ability to swim forever. The next day Red-Haired Shanks and his crew set sail, but before they left, Red-Haired Shanks gave Luffy his favorite straw hat, but made Luffy promise that he would return the hat when he became a great pirate.
One of the most dangerous things in the world of One Pice is the sea. There is Giant sea monsters, like Luffy’s villages local sea monster, that ate Red-Haired Shank’s left arm. Sea monsters aren’t the only dangerous things in the sea, there is also pirates. The first pirate that Luffy ran in to is the lady pirate Iron Mace Alvida and Luffy just had to pick a fight. As if monsters and other pirates weren't enough trouble, Luffy also has to worry about the Navy. With all of these things trying to stop Luffy from becoming being the King of the Pirates, he must also find a good crew. Luffy’s first official crew member is Roronoa Zolo, he practices Santoryu – three sword style. His life goal is to be the world’s greatest sword master, a dream that started when his childhood friend/rival died falling down the stairs.

Overall
One Pice is a great story, it’s very funny and has a lot of action. Luffy is one of a kind, his stubbornness is similar to Ichigo from Bleach or Naruto from Naruto, but his goofiness is different from anything I’ve ever seen. He’s a very loveably character. Even most of the other Characters in the manga love him. The story is not a usual pirate story, it’s like a more modern twist on pirates. Most of the modern thing are the cloths, the Navy are wearing baseball hats and when Luffy was a kid he wore a T-shirt and jeans, just thing like that make it amazing. The story is interesting and has a great pacing. Eiichiro Oda understands that timing is everything and One Piece has proved over the years that the story keeps the fans happy. Although I am very familiar with the story, it is big fun to step back and read the first volume again. It reminded me of what makes Ope Piece so great.
