"Who's the real victim? You are!"
Bedtime Stories is a surprisingly delightful contemporary pop-up book fairytale for all ages featuring Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, 50 First Dates) as Skeeter Bronson, a man who grew up in the hotel with his father (Jonathan Pryce Pirates of the Carribean 1-3, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) and sister (Courteney Cox Masters of the Universe, Scream 1-4) where he now works as an underpaid and underappreciated janitor under the thumb of Kendall (Guy Pierce – Memento, The Time Machine) the man who just took the hotel manager position that was promised to Skeeter when he was a child by hotel magnate Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths – Harry Potter 1-6, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). Kendall secured his position by becoming engaged to Nottingham's Paris Hilton wannabe daughter Violet (Teresa Palmer – The Grudge 2, Justice League: Mortal), but is secretly involved with the foul customer service nightmare hotel desk clerk Aspen ("Flawless" Lucy Lawless – Zena: Warrior Princess, Battlestar Galactica).
The Magic begins when Skeeter agrees to co-babysit his niece Bobbi (Laura Ann Kesling – Bedtime Stories) and nephew Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit – Bedtime Stories) along with his sister's lovely and assertive friend and coworker Jill (Keri Russell – Felicity, Wonder Woman). Skeeter takes the night shift with the kids and soon finds out that the fantastic stories he tells the kids all "come true" or at least echo powerfully into his real life. He tells his best and perhaps only friend Mickey (Russell Brand – The Secret Policeman's Ball: The Ball in the Hall) about his situation and together they scheme to manipulate this to their best good-hearted Disney-rated advantage and try to lead the stories to the benefit of Skeeter's career. This results in tons of hilarious backfires and clever new takes on the old adage "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it."
Extras:
The 3-disc Blu-ray edition is yet another example of Disney getting it right and delivering the best of all worlds: a Blu-ray disc with the feature with its respectable amount of special features, a DVD for the minivan or for the family that hasn't upgraded to Blu-ray quite yet either in general or where the kids watch videos, and the icing on the cake: a Digital Copy Disc usable with both iTunes and Windows Media Player. Some other companies have elected to eschew the ability to use iTunes by going Windows exclusive, and it's just that kind of divisive machination that might lead some to want to punch John Hodgman in the face, knocking him right through the recently upgraded aquarium of Dorothy the goldfish.
(Thankfully, Apple and Disney are pals, so that's not a problem here.)

Overall:
Bedtime Stories 3-disc Blu-ray Edition is the best way to get this release for your family. Whether you're watching it on your iPhone in teeny but convenient resolution, road-tripping with the DVD version, or getting the full big-eyed force at 1080p with Dolby Digital DTS HD sound, or some glorious combination of the three, you get it all in this one convenient package. And lucky you, cause this is one of Sandler's funniest movies to date and like most Disney films, holds up well to re-watching.
