I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bulls ass, but I‘d rather take the butchers word for it.
Tommy Boy tells the story of young slacker, Tommy Callahan (Chris Farley – Saturday Night Live) returning home after college, and things have changed. Dad, Big Tom (Brian Dennehy – pick anything, he’s Brian Dennehy for crying out loud), is planning to marry Beverly (Bo Derek – 10), and Tommy will be gaining a (step)brother Paul (Rob Lowe – The Stand). Tragedy strikes on the day of the wedding, though, when Big Tom passes away during the reception, and with Big Toms demise, the business begins to suffer when distributors begin canceling orders. Through a series of financial events Tommy sets out on his fathers selling route, with the help of his dads assistant Richard (David Spade – Joe Dirt), while on the home front, Beverly and Paul’s true colors show through.
In typical buddy flick fashion, Tommy and Richard find they respect and like each other, through a series of (mis)adventures. And after Paul and Beverly’s treachery kicks in, Tommy and Richard, along with girlfriend Michelle (Julie Warner – Doc Hollywood), foil their plans to sell Callahan Auto Parts to a competitor.

Tommy Boy is in my opinion the pinnacle of Chris Farley’s woefully short career. This movie is the full length flick that showcases his talent beyond the Saturday Night Live stint, and the great secondary parts like Ronnie in The Coneheads. Even though Farley is a John Belushi fan, and has often performed Belushi-esque physical comedy, but in Tommy Boy, he showcases his ability to be a verbal comic on both side of the joke. Just listen to the dialogue between Farley and Spade to see the true humor in this movie. Not that there isn’t physical comedy, just check out the dead deer scene or the bees in the car.
So, you may be asking yourself why you should pick up Tommy Boy on Blu-Ray. Well I have two reasons; 1080p High Definition and no commercials.
